The 2026
FIFA World Cup will be held across three countries: the United States, Canada
and Mexico. It will feature 16 stadiums and a record 104 matches, making it the
largest edition of the tournament yet and bringing UK top-flight action to more cities than ever before.
England's
group stage at three iconic venues
England's
group stage fixtures are now confirmed. As part of Group L, they'll face
Croatia, Ghana and Panama at three major venues across the United States.
England
vs Croatia – AT&T Stadium
England's
opening game against Croatia will be held at AT&T Stadium, home of the
NFL's Dallas Cowboys. With an enormous retractable roof and climate-controlled
environment, it's one of the flagship venues and will host multiple group
matches and knockout ties throughout the tournament.

vs Ghana – Boston Stadium
Gillette
Stadium (known as Boston Stadium during the tournament) offers one of the more
intense and compact atmospheres England will experience in the group stage.
While smaller than many NFL venues, its steep stands keep fans close to the
pitch, creating a loud and confrontational environment on big occasions. The
match against Ghana will test England's ability to perform under pressure in a
more intimate setting.

vs Panama – MetLife Stadium
MetLife Stadium will host England's final group game
against Panama. This match could be decisive in shaping their knockout route
and determining whether they progress as group winners. It's also the venue for
the final, giving the Three Lions an early look at the tournament's biggest
stage. Returning here later would mark a significant achievement and signal
their intent to go all the way.

knockout stage stadiums
Once past
the group stage, England's path could take them to several different venues
across the three host nations. The exact stadiums depend on finishing position
and bracket draws, which will shape their journey through the competition.
If England win their group (the most likely outcome), their
knockout campaign would start in Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It's a
fast, controlled environment suited to high-stakes football. From there, they'd
move to the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, where altitude and intensity add a
very different challenge. Playing at over 2,200 metres above sea level will
test England's fitness and tactical flexibility. Next comes Miami's Hard Rock
Stadium, offering a more open, high-energy setting in the quarter-finals.
England would then return to Atlanta for the semi-final before potentially
finishing at MetLife Stadium for the final.
England
won't play any games in Canada unless they finish as runners-up or third in the
group. A runners-up position would see the squad travel to Toronto, Dallas, Los
Angeles and back to Dallas for the semi-final. If things go badly and England
qualify as one of the best third-placed teams, they'd face a more fragmented
route through Kansas City, Vancouver, back to Kansas City and then Atlanta.
Stadiums
England won't play at
Regardless
of how England finish in their group, there are several venues they won't visit
in 2026. These include Mexico's Estadio Akron (Guadalajara) and Estadio BBVA
(Monterrey), as well as Houston's NRG Stadium, Philadelphia Stadium (Lincoln
Financial Field), Lumen Field in Seattle and Levi's Stadium in San Francisco.
While all will host major matches, they sit outside England's
allocated pathways. The Three Lions' journey will be concentrated elsewhere
across North America.
